Until today I have been updating the original blog thread about Uno, it has been brought to my attention that is was difficult to follow that way, so now I will make a new thread with each update of the progress of Uno Vom Logan Haus. For those of you that don't know, Uno's progress is being documented by an author who is writing a book about Uno and his training path here at Logan haus Kennels from birth until he is placed into a working home as a young adult.
Uno is 3 1/2 weeks old today. He and his littermates have been climbing out of the whelping box, so I decided to move them outside today into one of our outdoor puppy runs where they will be with their mother for the next few weeks. They got to see other dogs for the first time today and they were very bold and curious, tails up and barking at Ollie, the 10 month old who was barking back at them from a kennel near them. Then they quickly ignored Ollie and remained unimpressed by his barking as they went back to exploring more of the puppy yard. They have been eating solid food for a few days now and are already starting to respond to the sound of the jerry can when I approach with it and their food. I have begun luring them around a little for food now, and they are starting to understand to follow my hand for the food. This is the way we begin shaping behaviors in them, and this will continue for the next 18 months. Tonight will be the first night they sleep outside. They had no issues climbing in and out of the dog house, so I know they will be fine.
